Stay Home When Sick Policy

In accordance with All Newton Music School’s duty to provide and maintain a community music school that is free of known hazards, we are adopting this policy to safeguard the health of our students, families and visitors; and the community at large from infectious diseases.  This  policy will comply with all applicable laws and is based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and local health authorities, as applicable.

Below are examples of when you should stay home. 

Please submit the student absence form as soon as you know you or your student will be absent.


Fever

  • An elevation of body temperature above normal ( oral 100.4ºF ) AND accompanied by behavior changes, stiff neck, difficulty breathing, rash, sore throat, and/or other signs or symptoms of illness; or is unable to participate.

  • Unable to participate in routine activities.

  • Should not return until fever free for 24 hours, without the aid of medications.

  • Please seek care or contact your appropriate medical provider with questions.

Diarrhea

  • Do not return until 24 hours after symptoms have ended or as instructed by your physician.

  • Please seek care or contact your appropriate medical provider with questions.

Vomiting

  • Do not return until 24 hours after the last episode (if it is communicable)

  • Please seek care or contact your appropriate medical provider with questions.  

Respiratory

  • Respiratory infections are common. If you do not have fever, you do not appear to have decreased activity or other symptoms, it is not necessary to stay home.

  • Please practice Respiratory Hygiene and etiquette.

COVID-19*

  • Please see the latest CDC guidance regarding a positive COVID-19, quarantine and masking. CDC - COVID19

  • All Newton Music School Inc. is a mask-optional school based on the masking guidance indicated by the CDC. CDC-COVID19

  • Please seek care or contact your appropriate medical provider with any COVID-19-related questions.

  • Beginning September 2022, ANMS will no longer be contact-tracing in-house; please refer to your appropriate medical provider.
