For ages 20 months through seven years
A love of music is fostered in young children by providing satisfying musical experiences. Learning the foundations of music at an early age lays the building blocks of musical and social growth. Each level of involvement uses developmentally appropriate songs, movement, games and activities to focus on the six elements of music: rhythm, melody, harmony, tempo, dynamic, and articulation.
We begin with the use of the child’s own voice and proceed to the playing of
tuned and non-tuned percussion instruments. Next the child will experience
the fundamentals of ensemble participation. By the age of 5 and 6, the young
student is introduced to reading musical notes and rhythms and will be
independently making music. Keyboard Explorers and Xylophone Band prepare
each child for future private study.
