Summer Creative Arts Program

This program introduces children to the arts, cultivates individual expression, encourages group particiption and provieds a supportive nurturing environment. SCAP is a creative atmosphere in which children explore different artistic avenues daily.

Art
Everyone has fun in art! Students create projects using a variety of media such as paint, clay and fibers. Group projects include murals, costumes or scenery construction. The “Art Porch” is available during free time to complete porjects, sketch in journals, or do bead work.

Music
Group singing allows each child’s natural musical ability to surface. Through traditional, folk and camp songs, basic musicianship, rhythm, pitch and harmony are learned. Children are introduced to many instruments and join their friends for small music ensembles!

Movement
Children learn to use their own natural kinesthetic creativity. Using a variety of musical genres along with props, individual movements are explored and become expressions of dance.

Drama
Acting, improvisation, mime, shadow drama and story theatre are the skills these young actors are developing. Children move from one form of expression to another, finding their “acting voice”.

Extended Day Care
In a relaxed atmosphere activies would include snacks, movies, quiet games, art projects, sing-a-longs, cookie decorating, ice cream parties etc. This would let children play with friends before being picked up to spend the evening with the family.
